Hillsides Breaks New Ground with the Help of PCF

Hillsides is an important part of the Pasadena community. They are dedicated to improving the overall well-being and functioning of vulnerable children, youth, and their families. Their vision is to create lasting change in the lives of all at-risk children and youth they serve by providing high quality care, advocacy, and innovative services that promote safe, permanent environments where young people can thrive.

Recently, Hillsides has gone through some exciting changes, including an important merger with Los Angeles-based child welfare agency Bienvenidos, a relationship that will benefit both organizations.

HRDC_East View Perspective Small-resizedHillsides also just recently broke ground on a $12 million project that will extensively remodel the campus (Hillsides kids help out pictured above). Among the improvements are a new swimming pool and cabana and an outdoor recreation area that will feature a grassy play area (pictured, right), basketball courts, a large sand box, and swing sets. The road leading to campus will also be reconfigured and a welcoming entrance kiosk will be built. The next phase will include a new cafeteria and a subterranean parking garage.

Pasadena Community Foundation is proud to support this effort with a 2016 Capital Grant!
