Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund

Pasadena Community Foundation has been serving the communities of Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre for over 70 years.  As an umbrella organization, we have worked closely with both civic and nonprofit leaders during good times and bad to meet the changing needs of our community. In response to the devastating Eaton Fire, PCF’s Board approved, on January 8, an initial $100,000 grant to launch the Eaton Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.

Funding DEPLOYMEnt and its IMPACT

Since January 8, donations to the Eaton Fire Fund have allowed PCF to deploy more than $1 million in emergency funding to 38 nonprofits in Altadena and Pasadena. These nonprofits are on the front lines of fire relief, organizing supply drives, providing rent assistance and grocery cards, providing FEMA and insurance application assistance, and so much more. Additional funding rounds will occur, and PCF will soon make an announcement about phases of funding and funding priorities.

As of February 14, 2025, the Foundation has raised more than $14 million from foundations, corporations, and upwards of 5,000 generous donors.

The first round of emergency grants, totaling $533,000, was disbursed to 20 Altadena and Pasadena nonprofits on January 17, 2025.

On February 6, PCF deployed its second round of funding to 18 Altadena and Pasadena nonprofits.

Addressing Urgent and Longer-Term Needs

PCF is committed to deploying the funds entrusted to us as swiftly and effectively as possible to address urgent and longer-term needs. Our immediate priorities are supporting those directly impacted by the fires, including individuals displaced due to home loss, evacuation, or job loss—many experiencing more than one. We are working with trusted nonprofit partners providing essential services such as food, shelter, rent assistance, emergency childcare, and medical care.

In early February, PCF began turning its attention to its mid-term relief support, which will encompass temporary housing efforts, childcare, mental health, and more. Our long-term efforts will be focused on working directly with the community to support the rebuilding process.  We will assist in unlocking government resources to preserve the diversity and beauty of Altadena, to ensure that generational Black and Latino families can rebuild their home and their lives, that the creative and artistic community can thrive, and that small businesses can reopen.

How you can help

Our community’s needs are immense and will be ongoing for months into years. Please know that every donation and every act of encouragement strengthens our ability to make a positive impact in the wake of this terrible fire.
