Sidney (“Sid”) and Betsey Tyler arrived in Pasadena from Philadelphia in 1969 with their young family. In the years that followed, the couple dedicated themselves to the health and beauty of the city. Sid worked with Tenet Healthcare from 1970 until his retirement in 1995. He joined the Pasadena City Council in 1997, representing District 7; he held this position for 12 years, ending his service in 2009. During his retirement years, he also served on the board of the Pasadena Community Foundation, the Pacific Asia Museum, and Eastern Sierra Land Trust. He gave tirelessly to environmental and open-space causes and committed to the values he believed in so deeply – hard work, the highest ethical standards, good judgment, and tolerance.
