When Michael Schneickert purchased his Alfred and Arthur Heineman designed house in Pasadena’s Oak Knoll district, it was the beginning of a love affair with Arts & Crafts architecture and the community of Pasadena. During his three year restoration of the house, a second love affair led to his marriage to Karen Leiko Otamura and three children. Michael and Karen also shared a commitment to give back and chose the Pasadena Community Foundation as a vehicle for their charitable giving. When Michael passed away in 2015, Karen asked that memorial gifts benefit the Schneickert-Otamura Endowment, which supports Pasadena-area non-profits.
