On Saturday, April 9th, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and the City of Pasadena are hosting the ground-breaking of The Desiderio Community. Other partners include the United States Army and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
When the project is finally completed, nine low-income families – including three Veteran families – will be afforded the opportunity to own one of nine craftsman-style, single family homes. The families, along with Habitat for Humanity volunteers, will contribute to the building efforts. This project is located below the historic Colorado Street Bridge on the old Desiderio Army Reserve Center site.
This is an exciting project for both the city of Pasadena and the families, and Pasadena Community Foundation is proud to have helped fund it with a grant in 2015.
