PCF Helps Fund Affordable Housing Project for PCC Students
In spring of 2022, Pasadena Community Foundation joined several community partners in funding a housing project for students at Pasadena City College (PCC) who are transitioning out of foster care and experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. PCF contributed a $200,000 grant toward the project as part of its Affordable Housing Initiative.
Two structures located at 2321 E. Foothill Blvd. will be purchased and refurbished into six 375-square-foot studio units by Heritage Housing Partners (HHP) using funding from the City of Pasadena and PCF. The property will eventually be home to six PCC students who have experienced tenuous housing situations, a scenario that often jeopardizes a student’s chance of successful college completion. PCC will support the students with rent subsidies. Charles Loveman, the Executive Director of HHP, says
“These kids have experienced housing insecurity for so long. It’s going to be a game changer for them to have a key, lock their own door, and know their possessions and space are safe.”
