The mission of Pasadena Community Foundation is powered by endowments. PCF is able to support an impressive range of causes and organizations because local philanthropists – people just like you – decided to invest in their passions and support PCF’s local grantmaking in the greater Pasadena area.
It takes just three steps to create “forever gifts” that provide critical support to Pasadena-area nonprofit organizations. As a community foundation, PCF is well equipped to guide the process and provide community expertise and a variety of services that help donors set up funds and award grant dollars to important local causes and meet urgent needs when they arise, such as the Foundation’s COVID-19 relief funding in 2020 and 2021.. Taking those three steps enables PCF to make versatile grants to long-standing and new organizations, as well as meet urgent needs when they arise, such as the Foundation’s COVID-19 relief funding in 2020 and 2021.
What is an endowment?
An endowment (also referred to as an endowed fund) preserves and grows your charitable gift in order to support a cause, organization, or scholarship in perpetuity. Gifts made to an endowed fund form the “corpus,” which is not donated, but instead invested for long-term growth. An endowment fund yields interest, and that interest is donated to the designated nonprofit recipient, creating a permanent and ever-increasing source of financial support.
Create a named endowment with Pasadena Community Foundation in three easy steps:
Pick your passion
Designate your investment to one or more of PCF’s Impact Areas: Arts & Culture, Community & Economic Development, Environment & Animal Welfare, Health & Safety, Human Services, and Youth & Education. Or, create an unrestricted endowment to provide flexible support for PCF’s grantmaking.
Name your endowment
Memorialize a loved one who has passed, mark an important milestone, or create an endowment to “pay it forward.”
Make your gift
Establish your fund during your lifetime or through your estate plan. It takes just $10,000 to start an endowment with PCF (or two payments of $5,000 over two years).
Sonia & Neil Singla created an endowment in 2020 to “pay forward” their immigrant families’ hard work and support.
