A Career in Academics

Ram Manvi was a professor of mechanical engineering between 1971 and 2003 at Cal State LA. During this time, he served as Chair of the department and from 1981-1985, as dean of the then-known College of Engineering and Technology. He was also a long-time consultant to NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Following his time at CalState LA, Ram moved to the College of the Canyons where he eventually became dean of mathematics, sciences, and engineering technologies. His outside interests included classical music, international travel, camping, and nature walks. Sati was trained in clinical research and spent more than 30 years working at California State University Northridge – many of those years at the Klotz Student Health Center.
