FUND PROFILE

Saturday Conservancy of Music Endowment

The Saturday Conservatory of Music Endowment supports the Conservatory’s long-standing mission to provide affordable music education, allowing the organization to focus on teaching while PCF manages the fund for long-term growth.

OVERVIEW

About the Fund

For more than 50 years, the Saturday Conservatory of Music has provided affordable music lessons to young students; some of its former students now serve as teachers and Board members at the Conservatory. Originally operating on the Cal State Los Angeles campus, the group moved in 2000 to Lake Avenue Community Church in Pasadena. Every Saturday, the Conservatory sets up 30 classrooms and teaches everything from violin, bass, oboe, clarinet, and the harp to voice and music theory.

The Saturday Conservatory built their endowment by encouraging donations to honor those who believed in the Conservatory’s mission. According to Jeff Bruce, whose father founded the Conservatory,

“Having the Pasadena Community Foundation take care of the endowment lets us focus on our passion and mission: teaching children.”
