FUND PROFILE

Aydin Salek Leadership Scholarship Endowment

The Aydin Salek Leadership Scholarship Endowment supports high-achieving students—particularly those of Iranian descent—who demonstrate leadership and a commitment to improving Iranian-American affairs. Created by Aydin’s parents in his memory, the fund ensures Aydin’s legacy lives on through the accomplishments of future student leaders.

OVERVIEW

About the Fund

In 2010, Hamid and Azita Salek wanted to honor the memory of their son, who unexpectedly passed away shortly before his 18th birthday, and to keep alive his spirit of community participation and scholastic dedication. They established a scholarship endowment in his name with the Pasadena Community Foundation.

Aydin was a student at South Pasadena High School, and the scholarship fund supports student leaders and/or high-achieving students of Iranian descent who have demonstrated a special interest and dedication to improving Iranian-American affairs. In establishing the scholarship in Aydin’s honor, his parents know that Aydin’s impact on his community will continue to live through this legacy to other students who share Aydin’s academic achievements and leadership qualities.
