OVERVIEW

About the Fund

The Betty Jean Ho Endowment is a PCF Endowment Builder fund and provides unrestricted support for PCF’s local grantmaking programs in the Pasadena area. Following 10 years of PCF board service (1997-2017) and a lifetime of dedication to community causes, Betty ensured that her support of good work in Pasadena will continue forever. Betty received her B.S. in occupational therapy at USC and her teacher certification from the graduate school of education. She taught in Palo Alto schools and served as an occupational therapist at Children’s Hospital in San Francisco before moving to Pasadena in the late 1950s.

A Life of Service to Pasadena

While raising three children, Betty became a community volunteer and activist. She lent her time and many talents to myriad organizations and projects, including Pasadena City College Asian American Task Force, Pasadena Educational Foundation, Five Acres, YWCA Pasadena, and two organizations that eventually came under the umbrella of PCF: the Pasadena Child Health Foundation and the Rowe & Gayle Giesen Trust. Betty was perhaps best known for serving as the longtime field representative to former Pasadena mayors Katie Nack and Bill Bogaard. Betty passed away in 2022.
