The Funahashi Family Endowment supports PCF’s local grantmaking in the Impact Area of Youth & Education. Yasi and Ken Funahashi’s family endowment was inspired by Yasi’s volunteer work with Pasadena Community Foundation’s Education Committee, which allowed her to visit numerous schools in the Pasadena area and witness firsthand the invaluable impact of PCF’s initiatives in disbursing grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and local students.
Having experienced the educational opportunities provided to them as children of immigrant families, Yasi and Ken deeply understand the significance of giving back. They are grateful for the support they received during their own educational journeys at UC Berkeley and University of Pennsylvania, recognizing how impactful such assistance can be for the recipients of PCF’s grants, scholarships, and programs.
As recent residents of Pasadena, the couple also appreciates the warmth and welcoming spirit extended to them and their young son, Ryan, by PCF’s members and the Pasadena community. Whether it’s Yasi’s ongoing volunteer work with PCF or Ken’s involvement with Innovate Pasadena, the Pasadena Angels, and the Alliance for SoCal Innovation, the Funahashi family values the exceptional leadership and dedicated staff associated with PCF and Pasadena’s community organizations.
