FUND PROFILE

Schneickert-Otamura Endowment

The Schneickert-Otamura Endowment was created in 2015 to support Pasadena-area nonprofits and reflects Michael Schneickert and Karen Leiko Otamura’s shared commitment to giving back. After Michael’s passing, Karen directed memorial gifts to this fund, which honors their love for Pasadena and its Arts & Crafts architectural heritage.

OVERVIEW

About the Fund

When Michael Schneickert purchased his Alfred and Arthur Heineman-designed house in Pasadena’s Oak Knoll district, it was the beginning of a love affair with Arts & Crafts architecture and the community of Pasadena. During his three-year restoration of the house, a second love affair led to his marriage to Karen Leiko Otamura and subsequently, three children.

Michael and Karen also shared a commitment to give back and chose the Pasadena Community Foundation as a vehicle for their charitable giving. When Michael passed away in 2015, Karen asked that memorial gifts benefit the Schneickert-Otamura Endowment, which supports Pasadena-area nonprofits.
