FUND PROFILE

William T. Reynolds Endowment

The William T. Reynolds Endowment is an unrestricted fund that supports PCF’s local grantmaking and reflects Mr. Reynolds’ belief in civic duty and broad community support. A WWII veteran and longtime Pasadena resident, he left a legacy of service, philanthropy, and a deep appreciation for the arts.

OVERVIEW

About the Fund

Born in Trenton, New Jersey, William Titus Reynolds attended schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida before moving to California following service in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Finance (Magna Cum Laude), and an M.B.A.

Mr. Reynolds had a long career in financial services in Pasadena, and he was passionate about art. He was active with the Pasadena Art Museum before it became home to the Pacific Asia Museum. At the time, he was part of the Men’s Committee, which raised funds for the museum by commissioning leading contemporary artists to produce lithographs of their work and sell these limited editions. Mr. Reynolds also served as board president of the Pasadena Child Guidance Clinic (now Pacific Clinics) and teaching Sunday school at the Neighborhood Church.

When he established his endowment in 2010, Mr. Reynolds said that supporting PCF was part “civic duty” and part “convenience.” He felt strongly about supporting his community and liked that PCF supports a broad array of causes. Mr. Reynolds died in 2013 at the age of 90.
