2025 Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Grants

About This Grant Program — Following the Eaton Fire, Pasadena Community Foundation has diverted its annual grantmaking programs to focus on fire relief and response. PCF will not follow its traditional application cycles throughout 2025.

PCF’s Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund provides resources to community-based nonprofit agencies in support of families and individuals in Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre directly impacted by the Eaton Fire. PCF is committed to continually evaluating the needs of our community and responding accordingly. The 2025 Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Grant Program will utilize funding from the Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund.

Target NEEDS & PRIORITY AREAS — PCF will focus its funding on nonprofit organizations’ relief and recovery programs that support individuals and households that have been impacted by the Eaton Fire. Priorities areas are:

  • Cash assistance, groceries, and emergency supplies
  • Rental assistance
  • Temporary and medium-term housing
  • Case management
  • Mental health support for children
  • Summer programs for children

grant amount — Grant award amounts will vary.

application Process — The application period is now open. Interested nonprofits will be directed to first submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). Applicants with projects or programs most closely aligned with PCF’s priority areas will be invited to submit a full application.

strong applicationsPCF will prioritize programs that incorporate these strategies:

  • Addressing immediate need in our community in response to the Eaton Fire.
  • Ability to provide relief and services quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to successfully implement the proposed project or program.
  • Demonstrated impact of achieving desired outcomes.
  • Organizational sustainability: Sound financial health, strong leadership, active board.
  • Accountability to provide proof of measurable impact.

geographic restrictions — The applicant organization must be located in or provide significant service to the area defined by the boundaries of the Pasadena Unified School District (Pasadena, Altadena & Sierra Madre).

non-descrimination policy — The Foundation does not make grants from its discretionary funds to organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, race, or religion.

Eligibility requirements

  • Grants may be made only to tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c) (3) or 170(c) (1) or (2) (b) of the Internal Revenue Code. None shall be made to Private Foundations under Section 509(1) of the Code.
  • An organization must have been in existence for at least two years (based on the date of IRS determination letter) and have achieved a record of effective service and sustainability.
  • All previous grants must be completed. A grantee with an “open grant” will be ineligible for new funding. Grantees who have not complied with previous grant deadlines and reports or receipts may not be eligible for new grant consideration.

THe eaton fire fund grant program WILL NOT MAKE GRANTS FOR OR TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Individuals or households.
  • Individual public schools. PCF only supports PUSD schools through the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF)
  • Private schools
  • Influencing legislation or elections
  • Agencies not engaged in the actual performance of direct services to individuals (no re-granting)

GRANT REport deadlines and compliance — Reporting requirements must be followed in order to qualify for future grants. Agencies are also required to meet PCF’s Grant Recognition Guidelines.
